What is Art Meditation?

Art meditation is the practice of creative self-reflection through sensory stimulation. After a brief overview of color theory (the study of how colors make us think and feel) we intentionally engage all 5 of the human senses while individually completing a free-flowing, emotion-based work of art.

Accompanied by a live sound healing session utilizing healing instruments including sound bowls, harp, chimes, etc (sound), traces of alluring fragrances in the air (smell), an assortment of warm organic teas (taste) and a creative, dimly lit artistic atmosphere (sight), we provide participants with an variety of textured art supplies (touch) to abstractly translate their most current and vulnerable thoughts an/or feelings onto an 8x10” canvas.

This exercise influences a heightened state of awareness, which usually triggers emotions, memories and repressed thoughts that are leveraged to communicate through artistic works; with the ultimate goal of improving mood and well-being.

  • Boost self-esteem & relaxation: The freedom to create with no guidelines or rubrics allows space for “perfect mistakes”, without the stressors of right or wrong. Simply completing the task from start to finish is the ultimate success in art meditation, not how subjectively “pretty” the piece is.

  • Improvement in behavioral patterns: Art Meditation creates an outlet for frustration, anxiety and overall aggressive behavior. Both positive and negative emotions are encouraged to be expressed via art mediation, which not only provides validation for all feelings, but also offers the prospective to find the beauty in tribulations.

  • Explored communication: Self-exploration builds self-awareness. The more we become aware of our feelings, the better we are able to communicate what we feel. Art Meditation provides an alternative way to translate or interpret thought patterns, which is a great segway into improved verbal communication skills.

 PRICING

We offer the workshops in increments of

-Up to 15 participants: $1,000.00

-Up to 25 participants: $1,250.00

-Up to 50 participants: $2,000.00

-Up to 100 participants: $3,500.00

Prices include:

-90 minute arts and meditation session

-Art materials for each individual

-2 staff members/organizers

-1 sound bowl artist (additional healing instruments are available upon request)

-Travel equipment rental & set-up

-Replenishment of used materials
